Reese Witherspoon is setting the record straight about her close friend Jennifer Aniston and her long-speculated relationship with her ex-husband, Brad Pitt.
Appearing on the Armchair Expert podcast on Monday, November 3, the Legally Blonde star said the Friends alum — who also appeared on the podcast last month — isn’t one to dwell on the past.
“She’s not who people think she is — like, holding onto old things. She’s not holding onto old things,” Witherspoon, 49, told hosts Dax Shepard and Monica Padman.
When Shepard chimed in that Aniston isn’t “pining for Brad Pitt,” Witherspoon agreed, adding that her friend’s 50th birthday was proof of her good nature.
“At her 50th birthday — one of the biggest testaments I can say to what a wonderful person she is — people from her teenage years, people from her 20s, people who work in her home, every ex-husband, ex-boyfriend was there.”
“She just is a high spiritual-integrity person,” Witherspoon continued, describing Aniston as “not a burner of bridges.”
While she noted that she and her Morning Show co-star are “very different people,” she praised Aniston’s warmth and generosity. “She’s really warm and welcoming. She’s, like, a big host. Like, ‘come over!’ She’s very warm and friendly,” she said. “I think I’m more, like, nerdy.”
Aniston, now 56, was married to Pitt from 2000 to 2005 and to actor Justin Theroux from 2015 to 2018. The Emmy-winning actress is now moving forward in her personal life. Over the weekend, she went Instagram official with her new boyfriend, hypnotist Jim Curtis, after a few months of dating.
“Happy birthday my love. Cherished,” she wrote alongside a black-and-white picture of her embracing Curtis from behind.
